Chris Comben
I started Djing in 2000, after seeing Justin Bourne play numerous times. In my time in Hard House Ive worked on Short Circuit, Insekt, Combat and Tripoli Trax as well as helping with smaller projects in a design capacity.
Musically I prefer the funky end of Hard House, rather than the harder/NRG end, although Im happy to play either styles, or everything in between. Most of my productions have been slower BPM (around 142-145) funky hard house tracks, often with attention to the baseline and feel of the track. My First track was signed to Toolbox almost immediately and since then Ive featured on labels such as Flashpoint, Toolbox and Mad Cow, with many more tracks scheduled for release.
I started doing the design for Short Circuit after the first few releases. Latterly I also assisted with the signing of tracks and general promotion of the label with its owner Justin Bourne.
Joining Insekt as a fourth member, with Marc Johnson, James Nardi and George E (who has now departed), back in its Fire days Ive been involved for over three years now. From Fire, to The Scala, via The Fridge and Heaven. Designing the flyers and working into the DJ line-ups, starting with the back rooms and earning a main room warm up slot before moving on to be a main room regular.
Combat was started in the middle of 2007, as an outlet for both my own and other artists tracks. With the first two releases contain tracks by myself and the recent third release an original from Toolbox very own Nik Denton. The original has featured on the Toolbox V album, with my own remix featuring on the Tidy Weekender CD.
Tripoli Trax has been revived by Marc Johnson and myself, starting the label again from 116. With tracks lined up from Marc Johnson, Nick Sentience, Defective Audio, Base Graffiti, Andy Farley and many more, including a new track myself.
