Jaimy & Kenny D
The large audience probably knows little about them, but those who have any interest in house, progressive and tech house surely have heard of Jaimy & Kenny D. Superlatives will not measure up to describe the future that awaits both gentlemen. Jaimy & Kenny D are often called the Dutch Deep Dish because of the same ease with which they deliver quality and yet maintain the danceability in their productions as the Americans do. It is about time to get to know this dynamic duo that produces real music for the dancefloor and that aims to bring the musicality back into the dancemusic for the days to come.
Dennis Buné (Jaimy) and Kenneth Doekhie (Kenny D) are both residents of Amsterdam. They met each other nine years ago. Since then they have spent hours and hours together in the studio, no wonder that they perfectly got used to each others ways. Nowadays they are responsible for over 120 releases on highly acclaimed labels like Subliminal, Perfecto, ID&T, Skint, Wildlife and Combined Forces and they did remixes for names such as Tiësto and Way Out West. Their productions, with the already classic Keep On Touchin Me as an absolute high, found their way to the record cases of DJs like Tiësto, Erick Morillo, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Satoshi Tomiie, Sander Kleinenberg, Paul van Dyk and Steve Lawler. Above that, Jaimy has been responsible for about 35% of the releases of the successful Outland Records label on which he released amongst others the hit On The Discotrain. In 2001 they got their own label at Black Hole Recordings called Fatal Tracks. On this label they release deeper groovy tribal productions, no top 40 material, but very well useable as a great addition in a DJ set.
Like always, a biography needs the question as to where the gentlemen derive their inspiration from. Their answer is a long list. We derive our inspiration for new tracks from various styles and genres, from pop, rock, soul, hiphop and dance to reggae and so on. And off course we get inspiration out of emotions, frustrations, love, sadness, traveling and other experiences of life.
The comparison with Deep Dish is already made, yet this is not entirely correct since Jaimy and Kenny D will never be seen on stage together. Of both of them, Jaimy is the only one who performs as a DJ on parties, something he does since 1996. Jaimy's style as a dj, is as diverse as his productions. He loves to combine all kinds of house genres. His sets are uplifting, pumping, sexy and funky. His weaponry of 100% exclusive tracks, unique sound and ability to blend all kinds of styles, distinguishes him of others. He is able to create unbelievable energy onto any dancefloor.
What lies ahead only time will tell, but Jaimy & Kenny D are determined to expand their activities within the dance scene. For one, they are very eager to search for new unexplored territories to discover within the dance music itself. Further they would like to help out new talented producers, coach them and give them the opportunities to release these productions. And why not? They have gained such an amount of experience throughout the years that they see it as their duty to share their knowledge with a next generation of producers.
There is no doubt that in the future the names of Jaimy & Kenny D will be heard more often for their time is come to harvest the years of hard labour in relative anonymity.
