Activa
biography
Back in 2004 Rob
Activa Stevenson was excited at the prospect of having his first vinyl
release, alongside Aled Mann, called In Essence on the rapidly rising Somatic
Sense imprint. Little did he know that 18 months later he would have further
releases and remixes on the likes of Spinnin, Black Hole, Discover, Somatic
Sense and Enhanced under alias like Astralis, Substate, Eluna, Airaforce, Solar
Movement and Mekk and have his tracks played to thousands worldwide by the
biggest names in the industry. In the latter stages of 2005, Rob began to
develop his sound for his main Activa alias into a tougher edged, more banging
sound, influenced by the likes of Paul van Dyk and John Askew. Aiming towards
the sound of Discover, Rob still keeps his uplifting feel and delivers it with
his trademark crisp production and hammering kick.
With his productions
featuring heavily in the likes Armins AOST radio show and Above and Beyonds TATW
show and in many of the worlds top DJs live sets, Activa is definitely a name
that is fast becoming popular. As a DJ, Rob has played at nights including
Passion @ The Emporium, Crasher @ Gatecrasher One, has his own radio show on the
internet station, ETN once a month and regularly appears as a guest on numerous
other shows.
If that isnt enough,
Rob works alongside Jon OBir and Kev Ribbens at Conspiracy Recordings a label
that, over the first few months of its creation, has grown into one of the
fastest upcoming labels at the moment. Conspiracy releases have been playlisted
by the trance elite and have already been featured in many compilations
including
Trance
Republic, ASOT 2006 and In
Search of Sunrise 5.
Jon OBir: I have known
Rob for a while now and in that time he has sent me no end of tracks he has
produced and remixed, all of it being top quality stuff that's getting better
and better with each tune he creates. He has also helped in getting my own
production career started and its a pleasure to work alongside him with our
label, Conspiracy Recordings. He sent me a mix a few months back and it's still
getting many plays on my iPod. With the productions and mixes he is coming up
with, the future is looking bright for Activa!
