Vadz
Everything began during childhood - breaking and repairing different equipment just to see whats inside; recording TV-shows on old bobbin tape recorder; scratching parents records, and so on. All this in the ambience supported by the music of J.M. Jarre and Depeche Mode. What could grow up with this education? You should guess
His first DJ-experience he earned during school (1995) cassettes, one CD-player, old huge broken Russian mixing desk, and a raging crowd of raving senior pupils. Along with this - experiments with sound at home computer and as a result - a tape-release with sick hardcore stuff (1997). Yeah, those were messy times! ;) Then, in addition to sally out operations to play at boring club-parties, there were some concerts with local alternative rock-groups with Vadim as a industrialization-electric and even a drummer.
Next century strikes. Vadz creates phubriq a free open organization (or just a posse) of local techno-addicts, including DJs, music-makers and groups, and even artwork-designers. The concept of phubriq acts is to play true music that a Dj really likes, to be creative and to feel free in self-expression. So these soundsystem-like parties are just like a breath of fresh air for an open-minded section of the population; and kind of exotic fruit for big clubs, promoters and most regular clubbers. Phubriq acts take place in different places around the home region and far. You know, Russia is a big piece of cake.
In 2003 our hero wrote e-mail to a German girl (Maral Salmassi, a DJ, artist and label-owner). She really liked his music and decided to tell a world about him (well, a bit risky investment nowadays). So, later in 2004, 2 vinyls were released on Television records Spider Man EP and Pisdez, followed by another EP - Rust-Off/Punktire in 2005. Debut record is a bit experimental, but 100% dance-friendly - every track in its own style. The second piece of plastic raised a huge wave of rumors in Russia, because of uncensored lyrics and its hip-hop+electro formula. And the third EP shows us true, dark techno-soul its author. That should be called mental-techno, as Vadz once said. Moreover, a lot of interesting and different tracks are waiting to be pressed and played - experimental, noise, melodic, specific. And always unique!
In regular life Vadz earns his living working as radio-DJ and sound engineer at a local FM-station. In addition, he got a weekly show «Mixer» there - playing live or putting different sets and giving an opportunity to different artist around to get heard.
As for music-selection as a DJ, Vadz prefers not to hunt for current hits and trendy records, he uses to dig deeper for gems - interesting pieces of raisins in the heap of regular sweets. He usually plays techno and electro. Sometimes its really dark. sick and mind-blowing, but of course, energetic and rocking! But he also likes hypnotic-melodic tunes, deep / tech-house, and even old-good goa-trance. He always pays much attention to the crowd on the dancefloor - like raising them up and giving a mood. So, this DJ likes to tell a story in his sets.
