Moston and Malente
Lars Moston & Malente. Two guys that share a common language: Electro Breaks with a Funk attitude. Probably because they live in the same street. Where everybody talks like that.The first Moston & Malente single was In the Sky, released on Hamburg-based Moonbootique Rec., and it became a club hit that earned them #4 in the German Club Chart (DCC), world-wide compilation features and video airplay on music television. The double A-side follow-up Crowdrock/Tight With You is still fuelling electro parties across the globe as we speak and it is Splank! Rec. from Manchester who are putting out the new Moston & Malente single The 2 And Only.
Both Lars and Christoph (Malente) have other projects. Larss crew The Killergroove Formula are presenting their debut album this year after releasing five 12-inches on Lounge Rec., TYT Rec., MUTO und top French Breakbeat Label Lab-Rok. Their music has been featured by the likes of Radio Ones Annie Nightingale and The KGF had two singles among the DCC Top 200 records of 2005. Christoph has even more to boast about, having released no fewer than three Malente LPs on Unique Rec., as well as eight 12s. On top of that there are solo releases on Moonbootique and Luscious Sounds. Malentes latest offering Like A Freek is currently being hammered by Breaks heavyweights.
On the decks, Moston & Malente mean serious, oh-its-like-that-is-it-business in a fun way. Beats, bass-lines and a jumping crowd put a grin on their faces as they make full use of four hands and two brains, mixing fresh Breaks tunes, Electrofunk stompers, cheeky bootlegs, stiff drinks and Indie guitars to floor-shaking effect. And, of course, there are plenty of pre-release goodies by the duo and their producing chums from around the planet.
