Neo & Farina
It all started for in 2000 after Tris Jones AKA Farina visited Majorca regularly, watching DJs creating a buzz & making a crowd perform in such a passionate way all at the same time.
He & a friend decided to convert a shed at the bottom of his garden into a mini studio by sound proofing it with 2-inch thick polystyrene (although it didn't work all that well) 2 Technics 1210 turntables & a Pioneer DJM600 Mixer. They painted it & installed UV lighting to give it more of an atmosphere.
He continued to by records that had a particular sound he liked (mainly trance), then started to do mixed CDs to send out to bars & clubs to try and get a job djing. A lot of the time he would enter the shed in the evening with a few beers & before he knew it the sun was coming up and the birds were singing (Normally 5-6am). Get such a telling off from his girlfriend at the time.
In 2001 Tris eventually got a small slot in a local bar on Wednesday evening which was real fun but didn't last very long as the bars in England seem to stop everything when the football comes on the TV. To add to this he was getting really fed up with attitude of record shops who gave you the impression that even speaking to him was an effort for them.
On that note he thought, "F**k It I'll open my own shop, so in September 2001 he did just that "www.hotdecks.com". A shop (now sold) & web based vinyl dance specialist shop.
Finding the right person to help wasn't easy, after 3 or 4 people over 6 months in April 2002 he finally met "Dave Lambie" AKA "NEO" who he explained the plan to, this guy new exactly were he was coming from. They decided that unless you new somebody who owned a club or the most stupid amount of luck came along they would have to do it the hard way!
This would mean producing their own music & keep sending it to all of the labels worldwide until they were heard. Being inspired by people such as Signum, Armin, M.I.K.E, The Mystery, Tiesto & Ferry Corsten also Hemstock & Jennings, the boys created track after track, night after night, it almost felt like they were in the studio 24hrs a day, But they kept sending them out, one after another having a lot of interest but were messed about a lot too.
Finally Dirk Adamiak from Blutonium saw the possible potential in the persistent duos unique progressive trance styled sound & signed the first 4 tracks produced as "The UK EP Vol. 1" of which they realised a dream had come true. Unffortunately due to difference of opinions Dave left shortly after in early 2003.
After remaking the classic Binary Finary & being signed to new Platipus imprint Platipus Euro along with double A side Someone which went on to sell over a million cds on various compilations such as Gatecrasher Residents Transmission, Ministry Of Sound Deeper Trance, Avex Cyber Trance 8 in Japan to name a few, the remix work started rolling in:
