Vital Substance AKA Richard Martin has been obsessed with beats from an early age.  Born with beats in his head he played drums in various bands at school, and eventually got sucked into the emerging rave scene in his early teens.  It was not long before his drums were replaced by a set of decks, mixing and scratching his way onto many old skool rave flyers!

Richard’s last five years have been spent in the studio.  Sporting a lovely studio tan, his productions have started to get label attention.  His first release on Systematica records 'Crowd Control’ has been a big success for the label. ‘Somebody’ is Richards’s first release for Edit with future releases and remixes in the pipeline.
