What's been your biggest achievement of the year?
2010 has been a huge year for us so it's hard to pick a single thing. Production has definitely been the key to our success this year. Having our very first release on Ape Music 'Your Mind Your Passion' short listed for 'Best Single' & 'Best Remix' at the Breakspoll awards and topping the charts for moths with 'Back To The Old Jack' are both stand out achievements for us. We also have a remix coming our on one of the worlds biggest 'main stream' labels in early 2011, but we can't share the details of that yet!
What moments will you never forget?
Playing to thousands of crazy Spanish ravers on the main stage at the Floridance Festival in Seville and winning 'Best SW DJs' & 'Best SW Producers' at the South West Dance Music Awards at the Eden Project in Cornwall have both been landmark events in our career so far.
Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?
Love it or hate it (we love it) Skrillex's 1st Album on Mau5trap was by far most impressive entry of anyone.... Ever to be honest. Next level production.
Who's been the artist of the year for you?
Hard to pick one to be honest. This year Noisia, Access Denied, Bassnectar, Pixel Fist, BSD, Far Too Loud and Rektchordz have been our most played artists. If we had to pick one though then Elite Force would be at the top, he's murdering the scene right now.
What's been your favourite label of the year?
May be a little bias but our home 'Ape Music' has been our favourite label this year. Ben & Lex do a fantastic job of keeping the releases fresh and strong and we really enjoy working with all the other artists involved. Ape is one of the very few labels left that still has a real 'Family' feel to it and we're proud to be representing them.
What do you think has been the best track of the year?
Our most played tune this year has definitely been our own tune 'Back To The Old Jack'
What's been your favourite event of the year?
The annual Rumble In The Jungle Awards at the Eden Project is 'ALWAYS' the best night of the year. The Eden Project is by far the best raving location we've ever been to let alone played at. All the local heads are out, you get to preform to thousands on big stages in front of a lot of your friends that don't usually go clubbing, the line ups are huge and the vibes are always amazing. Its a really special event and recommended to anyone who can make it to them.
What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?
DJ'ing for Mick Jaggers daughter in the back of her Funktion1 fitted camper van was quite an experience. It was an Impromptu set she asked us to do at a festival in the summer and it was crazy! People dancing all over the the roof of the van and probably this years most prolific use of the infamous Freerange DJs 'RAVE HORN'
What do you have planned for the next year?
We have a lot of things going on in the background for 2011. Were really hoping to do well at Breakspoll for one thing. We have also just been taken on by Rocstar Dj Agency so our work with Cut La Roc will be a big focus. We aim to continue our work with Ape Music, deliver a constant stream of strong original releases and massively increase the amount of sets we play outside of the Southwest and internationally. We want to continue and improve our work with Trackitdown & NSB radio. We are also restarting the infamous Freerange events in 2011. To sum it up we are working very very to make the Freerange brand as big, successful and professional as we possibly can.
