Warrior One
Warrior is a master yoga pose dedicated to a particularly destructive manifestation of the Lord Shiva. It’s also the preferred moniker of one Carl Faure – a left-leaning, bass and drum-heavy producer currently operating out of secret basement studio somewhere in London.
Raised in Birmingham to an African father and British mother, Carl moved to Brighton where he learnt his skills remixing the likes of Quantic & Pepe Deluxe, DJing at world re-known nights such as Supercharged & Off Centre and flogging records over the counter of institutional shops – HVR and Hedonism. Working with hip hop legends such as Blak Twang, Carl went on to produce an LP as one half of Black Grass (on Catskills Records) before later getting involved in the house and techno scenes. A move to London a few years later sees Carl well underway with his Warrior One incarnation. Having worked with Lady Chann, Serocee, J2K and Rubi Dan, and having remixed Foals, Bonobo, Foamo, RackNRuin, Dreadzone, and the Stereo MCs amongst others, Warrior One is preparing to unleash a series of next-level bangers on his new home, Black Butter Records.
On his first new record – The Yang EP – Warrior One has collaborated with Durrty Goodz – the under dog grime legend often-cited as the best in the game. Then there’s Royston Williams aka Lyrical – the furious Bristol born talent residing in the Dam. There’s also some deep, rolling, bass weight instrumentals for those who prefer their beats raw. Look out for another scorching EP dropping this Autumn on BB, it’s gonna be pure FYAH!
