Tom Gandey, aka Cagedbaby, is a guy who likes to party. Pissed off with the music he was hearing out, Tom decided to stop complaining and put his talents to the test. He's a classically trained keyboard player and he's heavily into electronica and equally influenced by the likes of FSOL, FBS and loves Royksopp and Metro Area and the styles and influences of the 80's; his sound is right on the money...

A Brighton boy through and through, from an old fishing family he decided to put down his fish and express himself. Cagedbaby as a name came about from a feeling that he was born into a world that he had little control over, and breaking out is the task. As he says 'It's more about being free than being caged'.

His latest 12" Star and Berlin a double AA side is Big Beats & Massive basslines. This music needs to be cranked. Less is more but sometimes more is better. At times my music goes all out and will drop into minimal subtle grooves and just hang there 'it's gotta be funky'.

Star is backboned with bigger beats, and laced with melodic, strong keyboard hooks featuring a filtered psychedelic vocal twist that dances merrily along the track finales in epic style with a trombone hook that builds and builds.

Berlin shows a darker side. Broken beats backed with a heavy breakbeat bassline. The lyrics such as 'set me on fire and break me' are more influenced by the movie Wargames than current tensions. Lots of Cagedbaby's tracks are influenced by the 80's Hollywood blockbusters that you watched as a kid after school or on a Saturday afternoon down the local fleapit.
