DJ mag review
Hailing from Plymouth, a hotbed for UK hard trance in itself, the V8 label got off to an impressive start a few months back with the power-packed K theory by Kenzie and Cobain.
Ross Mackenzie aka Kenzie is back on board for release number two, joining up with label boss Andy Prosser, Dance Academy resident Damien James and keyboard player Darren Jessop.
Their original mix is a thumping trancer with plenty of crossover appeal from an almost Jurgen Vries style lead riff. Theres tougher stuff on offer too, courtesy of a rasping Jon the Baptist remix. Arguably the mix of the package is by Louk and Ross Mackenzie.
Its 100% Devon by design, but it comes across like a prime time slab of dutch produced tech-trance, almost like a meeting of minds between Ron van Beuken and Marcel Woods. Top. 4/5
Mixmag reviews
V8's debut release a few months ago went rocketing into the Mixmag chart and it looks like the follow-up is set to be a big hit as well
Big Alphazone-esq synths and peak time stabs are tailored for coliseum sized dance floors
iDJ mag review
More trancetastic stuff from Dance Academy resident Damien James, and Plymouth based producers Darren, Andy and Ross.
It is a brooding, accomplished trancer that has both melody and power in abundance and will go down a storm on any dancefloor.
And add on to that an excellent Louk & Ross Mackenzie remix and you have a fantastic package on your hands. 4/5
M8 Mag review
UK hard trance stalwart John the Baptist has been called in to twiddle the knobs on V8s latest bombshell and as usual has pulled out all the stops.
One moment the listener is surrounded by an exquisitely optimistic melody that is both pristine and pure, then before they have time to say reach for the laser they are grabbed by the scruff of the neck and dragged off into the darkness by some satanically evil stabs. Not for the faint hearted! 7/8
