Skrufff Top 5 (360):

1: Stuffa & Andy featuring Mapei: Pretty Girl
(TrunkFunk Records)

TrunkFunk boss Fredrik 'Dj Nibc' Nyb and studio partner Jonas Rathsman follow up the Touch’s excellent recent EP with another guaranteed winner: the instantly infectious unforgettable ‘Pretty Girls’. Featuring vocals from rising Swedish star Mapei, the track is polished successfully by Sinden though sent into the stratosphere by David Ekenback, whose stripped down tech track totally rocks.

2: Bobmo: 3000% Yes
(Institubes)

Institubes rising star Bobmo flexes his muscles, diving into decidedly techno territory on standout cut from this triple track EP ‘Get ‘Em Junior’. Melodic, haunting, atmospheric and energetic, with that X Factor something special sprinkled on top.

3: Perc: Serious Moonlight/ Cylinder Swing
(CLR)
James Holden protégé and Kompakt favourite Perc teams up with CLR and releases two tracks of stripped down pumping electro-tech action (the best of which is Serious Moonlight). Dark, moody and ominous.

4: Air: Moon Safari Anniversary Re-Issue
(Virgin)

Enigmatic, downtempo French band Air (presumably) accept their limitations and return to their finest moment, their breakthrough 1998 debut album Moon Safari.
Or then again their label do, but whoever’s responsible, the album remains one of the best electronic albums of the past 10 years.

5: Felix Da Housecat: Tweak
(Different)

Though compared to his earlier work, Felix Da Housecat’s latest album Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco can only be described as extremely disappointing, standout track Tweak remains a rocking electro-disco monster of substance and quality. First released on promo 18 months ago, the track also now comes out with an instrumental version which should broaden its appeal beyond his usual fanbase.
