To celebrate the 2nd birthday of Whartone Records Trackitdown.net joined forces with Sonny Wharton to present a unique opportunity open to budding producers everywhere with the launch of a very exciting competition to seek out new talent.
In conjunction with Whartone Records we presented an exclusive free sample pack with sounds and loops from some of Whartone's leading artists that included Sonny Wharton, Ben Coda, Digital Impression, Dirty Secretz, Dom Kane, Sick Elektrik, Steve Haines and Ted Nilsson and opened a 4 week window for people to submit a new production with the chance of winning an exclusive release on Whartone plus a day in the studio with Sonny himself.
Competition was fierce and the standard of entries was extremely high. With the judging complete we are very pleased to announce the winner of this exciting competition.
In first place is Lee Field with his entry Step Back
Lee Field - Step Back (Whartone / Trackitdown Production Competition Winner) by whartone
"After going through all the entries several times this track really stood out and I think the reason is because it wasn't an obvious use of the parts and he really made the track his own. There is still room for improvement in the production but for me its always about the raw idea and ultimately I think this stands up as something I would quite easily buy myself when shopping on trackitdown." Sonny Wharton
Lee's track will feature as an exclusive on the forthcoming compilation "The Sound Of Whartone Miami 2012". Lee also wins a day in the studio with Sonny at London's Subbass academy.
With competition so tight Sonny felt it only fair to highlight some of the incredeible talent who entered. The following entries came very close and should be comended for their efforts. Some of the artists have kindly entries available to you as a free download. We hope you enjoy them as much as we have!
Congratulations to the winner and all runner-ups from Trackitdown.net, Sonny Wharton and everyone at Whartone Records.
