Dustedbreaks was born in Portsmouth in early 2002, when Lee & Mark Martin, John Lewis and their buddies Kevin Brown & Jason Mullineaux came up with a cunning plan to flood a predominantly hard dance city with a much needed injection of flavour, in the form of tough house music and breaks.
Dustedbreaks started off in a small club in Portsmouth called The Subway and over the course of that year built their reputation to such a level that they had to move to the now infamous Albert Tavern on South Parade Pier. Whilst at The Albert Tavern, they did a massive night in association with Hooj Choons, where the well established and label head honcho Red Jerry played a storming set at IndepenDANCE day. After this point the nights mutated into the nu skool breaks sound we still carry on today. These exclusive breaks parties brought such amazing guests along never before seen anywhere near Portsmouth, such as legendary DJ/Producer Lee Coombs from Finger Lickin Records, Lot49 Top dog Meat Katie, and (then just ripe on the scene) DJ Hyper from Kilowatt Recordings for his Wired album tour. Having such major names down to party with us was always gonna blow some brains out, and nobody's let us down yet. Fo Sho.
There have been some serious years putting on nights all over the place - not only Portsmouth and South Coast but also up north in Manchester/Surrounding. There have been many guest spots on London pirate radio stations over the years, and the boys have worked on several internet radio shows such as Kitchen FM; Portsmouth's leading underground radio station, and 2 simultaneous long standing residencies on Dynamic Breaks. Other artists on this station, which is alas no more, were the likes of Baobinga, ID, Grizzla, Kem, Curl and Dean, Collins 303, Sons of Mecha and the Breakfastaz. All this and they still had time to make some tuneage eh.
Anyway, after all these years hard at it, the boys thought it only right to start up their own record label, so here they are!
Bring on the beats.
