The Zoo Project Ibiza
Every couple of years, Ibiza's club scene produces another gem that begins life well below the radar and gradually becomes one of the island's must do parties.
In the last couple of years, The Zoo Project has done exactly that. From taking over the zoo that never was through to building a whole concept around it, the Zoo crew have never wavered from a solid commitment to true underground house and techno music, which has featured some of Ibiza's most popular resident DJs as well as international guests and label showcases.
In 2009, things evolve a little in order to accommodate an even more varied approach. The Zoo Project will continue each and every Saturday as usual; its opening on 30th May making it the perfect tonic before Space Opening, but on Wednesdays throughout the summer, Channel Zoo arrives to feature the best underground labels and brands. Names such as Freak N Chic, Oslo, Perlon and Cecille speaks volumes for the quality of artists and sounds you can expect for this new project.
A traditional strong roster of residents also continues this coming season, with Nima Gorji and Jose De Divina forming two of the mainstays of the Zoo family, ably supported by Madame Tina, Jonathan Tena and Defex. As the zoo grows wilder, artist of the calibre of Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Simon Baker and Luciano Esse provide just a flavour of what is to come.
In times when all the talk seems to be about crisis and restrictions, The Zoo Project and Channel Zoo really do offer a unique atmosphere to experience clubbing in Ibiza; whether you get trapped in one of the animal cages or nearly fall into the seal pit, or whether you come in fancy dress or just chill by the pool and enjoy the barbecue, this is daytime, open air clubbing in the true spirit of Ibiza.
