Bootleg Social Records
London based dance music collective; Bootleg Social have expanded on their success in the UK clubbing market with the launch of their long anticipated record label. For a number of years Bootleg Social with their unique mix of sophisticated sleaze and infectious hedonism, have been collecting converts and influencing clubbers across the UK dance scene. So taking the next step to produce and distribute their inimitable sound under their own label is a natural progression. Led by Bootleg Social founder, and still regular headliner, Tobie Allen, the label seeks to fill a niche often overlooked in the dance scene today. Non commercial music, that still knows that having a good time on the dance floor matters. Tobie himself is an unashamed crowd pleaser and it was this lack of caring for the people that matter. The clubber...that drove Tobie to launch his own imprint under the Bootleg banner. Taking dance music back to its first principles, where the music, the moment, the feeling is king.
After testing the market with the sneakily infectious Tim Cullen produced Buckle Up, a surprise hit across the dance charts, Bootleg decided the market was ready and receptive for the label's up for it philosophy. The first official release Long Haul a collaboration between underground London producer Tim Cullen of Data recordings/Frisky records fame and Tobie Allen himself, is a driving uplifting slab of pure energy that is destined straight for the dance floor. The master stroke is to release the track with a remix by up-and- coming globetrotting progressive producer DJ Hayley Parson which takes the infectious rhythms of the original on to an edgier, intense, insular journey of no return.
This new breed will soon be joined by an array of cutting edge talent that have waited too log for a label to call home. New collaborations with Black Russian, So Called Scumbags, James Edwards and Lizzie Curious are all in the pipeline, certainly making Bootleg Social a label that every clubber would like to take "back to mine".
