Although “greed” is the deadly sin of selfish excess, Douglas Greed has been rather generous lately: he just offered his debut full-length KRL (from Freude am Tanzen, the label releasing most of his music since 2005) and provided a highlight track on the new Upon You Records compilation. And now we’re happy to announce that he’s sharing four new studio creations with us… and you! While Greed designed his new album for the “club under the bedspread” including many downtempo and ambient moments, this new EP (his first for Gigolo) is strictly tailored for losing it the dancefloor. Like KRL and with his energized live sets, this EP finds Greed working with several different vocalists to match the wide-ranging character of his production work. At first there is the track “Go Down On You” with its boogie-tech wobbling bass and cheekily sexy seduction from vocalist Rosa Rough, dropping her inhibitions and approaching you with her desire to get a mouthful. Next up is “Krautpolka”, with the noticeably punchy march of live drum sounds and a murmuring, wavering synth line. After a few unsuspecting minutes of buildup, the bassline melody jumps out of the shadows and takes the track to its sleazy peak. “A Club`s gotta be dirty” bumps rough and dirty, providing a soapbox for guest vocalist Gjaezon. “We don’t need that posh shit”, he explains in his humorous rant about the kind of club he wants to be in. “When I come home from a party, I want that I-come-from-a-party smell, and I don’t want that I’ve-been-testing-perfumes-with-David-Beckham-for-three-hours kind of smell!” Finally, as a digital bonus (not included on the 12”), “Resist” pumps up the BPMs a notch, inviting Jeazon to lay down some vox on top of the old-school acid line, circling around like an adrenalized shark.
