Get ready for some special Aussie psy-trance. This track was written for Dark Forest I, and first played under the stars in a tree-ringed dancefloor under the dark shoulder of Mount Macedon in the antipodean state of Victoria.
The sound of real garage drums clashes through the humming chaotic intro, the big air-moving kick stabs through the trees and bushes like a big blunt spear. Choppy panning synth hits whirl around the soundfield like spinning rusty axes, scattering the mind into fragments, while vocal samples offer mad, muttered wisdom about mediaeval hallucinogenic potions.
The breakdown is pure ghost-movie stuff, leading into one of the freshest metal guitar solos ever recorded for a psy-trance track. The outtro finally relents its grip on your mind, casting it out alone and skinned on a moonlit plain, wearing a silver helmet and silk slippers, chewing on mandrake root and walking among the goats whose coats are blue in the half-light.
