Track Information:
'Bassline House' is the current dance music trend which is taking the UK by storm. Defined by warping sub basses, energetic drums and sweet vocal harmonies, the sound is the current incarnation of the UK Garage / UKG sound which has been present in the consciousness of all dance fans since the mid 90s. Taking influences from the classic 2-step & Speed Garage sounds, 'bassline house' is the new catch-all term for the evolved garage sound.
Here, we've put together a starter bundle for those looking to discover this sound which includes examples of the various different styles of bassline:
* Organ House - defined by old-skool organ stabs and often featuring chunky percussion and catchy vocal licks. Example: Stonebridge - 'Put Em High (Danny Bond Remix)
* Niche - named after the infamous Sheffield club claimed to be the spiritual home of bassline, this particular brand of bassline is characterised by tough basslines, driving rhythms and warping FX. Example: DJ Q - Tea Bag
* Speed Garage / 4x4 - just like the Speed Garage sound from the mid '90s, this is characterised by warping basslines but with more emphasis on soulful vocal licks (often cut-up) and shuffling percussive rhythms. Example: Delinquent - My Destiny
* 2 Step - the most famous incarnation of the UKG sound is still going strong into 2008 and still sounds as great as ever. Defined by breakbeats and soulful vocals, this is the poppiest incarnation of the bassline sound but still one of the most popular. Example: Ed Case - Something In Your Eyes
