Skrufff Recommends ::

Reported by Trackitdown TID on June 14, 2006 (To hear these tunes, tune into the Skrufff Show on Ministry Of Sound Radio, every Sunday from 20.00-22.00 GMT +1)

1: Huggatron: Are You A Killer/ Gasoline (Confused)

Scandinavian prodigy John Dahlback continues his fine run of excellent electro-house style releases, with this (presumably) car themed three track EP.

Opener Driven is an instrumental (not bad) straightforward Dalhback track, which builds via a throbbing bassline and electronic synth stabs, while on title track Are You A Killer he raises his game and general energy level, delivering a Tiefschwarz style builder that’s firmly aimed at the dancefloor. However, he saves the best  til last with Gasoline, a throwaway track with a killer oh so sweet vocal about sniffing petrol. Not to be practised indoors.

2: Hi-Phen Pile-Up: Volume 2 (Hi-Phen)

Hi-Phen chief Geoffroy aka Mugwhump compiles, mixes and edits his label’s latest compilation, putting together a highly listenable mix of ‘electro- techno-cosmic disco/ balearic’ of recent releases and soon to be released club smashes.

Standout tracks include Vicarious Bliss’ The Theme, Mark Flash’s Soul Power (Mike Monday) and best of all The Revolving Eyes’ Going Through the mix (Midnight Mike Mix) though the whole album shows Hi-Phen are a label definitely worth watching.
