Finally, the day all dance fans have been waiting for is upon us – Gatecrasher’s award winning SUMMER SOUND SYSTEM returns!  After a 4 year sabbatical, the mother of all dance festivals is set to relaunch, back where it all began at LOTHERTON HALL in Leeds on May 27th 2007.  

GATECRASHER is set to reinvigorate clubland with a spectacular event. Remember the best outdoor dance party you’ve ever been to and you still won’t be close. Anticipate the beautiful, sweeping grounds of historic Lotherton Hall, decadent musical moments, a magical garden-party atmosphere, awe-inspiring video imagery, breathtaking lighting and sound throughout 6 themed arenas and you’re getting closer. Designed by clubbers for clubbers SUMMER SOUND SYSTEM 2007 promises to be THE OUTDOOR CLUBBERS’ EVENT OF THE YEAR.

Marking what will be an emotional homecoming, GATECRASHER has teamed up with the worlds most revered DJs and promoters to bring together over 13 HOURS of non-stop MUSIC, 15,000 beautiful PEOPLE, 6 stunningly themed ARENAS, and over 100 DJs and Performers, with dj sets broadcast LIVE on RADIO 1 and BBC 1 XTRA for a never-to-be-forgotten resurrection!  GATECRASHER – THE SUMMER SOUND SYSTEM 2007

The event will take you on the ultimate musical voyage with blistering tech house, dark and dangerous drum and bass, peak time club tracks, driving techno, explosive hard house , anthemic hands in the air trance, fresh funky house, deep and dirty electronica, blissed out beats, dreamy dusk melodies and everything else in between!

Kicking off at 5PM ON MAY 27TH and running through till 6AM, this phenomenal event will take place on Gatecrasher’s original stomping ground at LOTHERTON HALL in LEEDS across 6 diverse arenas – the RADIO 1 / CRASHER ARENA, HED KANDI ARENA, GOODGREEF vs SUNDISSENTIAL ARENA, THE METROPOLIS / AWOL ARENA, FEDERATION ARENA and DIRTY DISCO ARENA. Each arena will showcase the very best in dance DJs from the UK, Europe, America including JUDGE JULES / MAURO PICOTTO / MR SCRUFF / FABIO & GROOVERIDER / TIMO MAAS / ANDY C / MARCO V / DAVE PEARCE / LISA PIN-UP / K90 LIVE / CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE.


GATECRASHER’s celebrated trance brand CRASHER hosts the main-stage along with Radio 1.  CRASHER has long been recognised for representing the most cutting-edge dance music and their stage at SUMMER SOUND SYSTEM 2007 is no exception. The backbone of CRASHER’s success has always been innovation and their devotion to bring ground-breaking talent to events will never weaken.

Headlining the arena is world-renowned DJ and producer Radio 1’s JUDGE JULES! Charismatic and creative behind the decks, Jules has built up a huge worldwide following, thanks to his proven ability to rock dancefloors, from the smallest clubs to the biggest festivals. His BBC Radio 1 show is one of the most influential on the airwaves, regularly breaking new dance music and providing the soundtrack to a Saturday night for over 5 million listeners joining JULES is world-renowned trance music DJ and producer MAURO PICOTTO.  MAURO has long been a mainstay of the Crasher line-ups and remains a pioneer and a dynamic force in dance music. His set will showcase his unique flavour of techno, house, electro & trance.

Also playing in this explosive arena are inventive trance-house crowd pleaser MARCO V, U.S. trance star ranked #4 in the DJ Magazine top 100 Poll, CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE, rising star Dutch tech-trance star MENNO DE JONG and uplifting, anthemic production duo RANK 1. Crasher legends MATT HARDWICK and SCOTT BOND, enhance the mix alongside top spinners RILEY and DURRANT and latest edition to Ferry Costen’s Tsunami record label and local Leeds hero ADAM SHERIDAN. Radio 1 Dance Anthems’  DAVE PEARCE will also broadcast a set jam-packed with club bangers and big anthems LIVE on air. London production team DOGZILLA complete the line-up with a rare live set.  The Dogz will perform a series of massive floor-fillers including ‘Dogzilla’ and the equally monstrous  'Without You’  both of which combine the trade mark DOGZILLA dark side with serious melody and dynamism.


Illustrious hard-house promoters SUNDISSENTIAL lock horns with the awesome GOODGREEF in a versus event that will blow your socks off! The arena will see both promoters fight it out in a one off head to head!!

In the red corner representing GOODGREEF and throwing the first punch is hard dance icon K90 with a live set littered with his legendary anthemic productions.  In demand pioneer ILLOGIK joins the campaign with his now renowned DVJ set which manipulates video images and syncs them to the music. Trailblazing producer DARK BY DESIGN completes the live offering with a tailored production of re-edits, bootlegs and cuts. Entering the ring come a plethora of renowned hard-dance DJs renowned for their signature blazing bass-lines including Radio 1 Golden Boy KUTSKI, legendary dark destroyer MARK EG and young contender LADY DANA. 

In the blue corner representing SUNDISSENTIAL is Reigning first lady of hard-house LISA PIN-UP; her epic set is designed to take you to another musical level with original tricks, reloops, slices, cut and remixes. Packing a potent punch and demonstrating their devastating scratch and turntablism techniques are tech-trance Dex&Fx team ORGAN DONORS in a set that will absolutely blow your musical brains out. Completing the line-up are some of today’s most upfront trancesters including PAUL GLAZBY, PAUL KERSHAW and NEAL THOMAS  in what promises to be the soundclash of the century.


Legendary Leeds promoters FEDERATION join the party with their own brand of  Funkin', pumpin' house and chunky vocals.  Of course no FEDERATION party would be complete without the renowned theatrical and visual glamour of the club. Providing the soundtrack to night will be FEDERATION resident DJs STUART ROBINSON, GAVIN LAMPITT GREG MYERS, NIK DENTON & FILTHY RICH playing the unmistakable funky FEDERATION fusion.

The FEDERATION Arena will not only feature the best music around it will also feature production from the now infamous FEDATRICAL. In this arena expect breathtaking array of loud, proud and in your face décor in what promises to be a genius spectacle of the weird and the wonderful. The FEDERATION party promises to satisfy with fantastic music, an endless supply of unfeasibly gorgeous dancers, stilt walkers, human puppets and fire-breathers, visual artists and stunt performers and entertainers including THE FEDETTES, ONE LOVE and the FBI DANCERS.


Celebrated Drum & Bass promoters METROPOLIS host a beat battle with old skool jungle legends AWOL. This arena will feature the biggest beat makers battling it out with a selection of underground sounds, drum & bass/old skool/hip-hop and breaks. Taking the helm is the biggest draw in drum & bass ANDY C alongside Radio 1 supremos and dance pioneers FABIO and GROOVERIDER. Urban Takeover records artists APHRODITE and MICKEY FINN host back-to-back old school classics for the hardened junglists and NICKY BLACKMARKET adds his now renowned turnablist skills to the event. 

Cutting edge crafter SIMON BASSLINE SMITH goes head to head with DRUMSOUND for a clash of the titans which will also see Liquid V Label owner BRYAN G head to head with BBC RADIO 1XTRA’s L DOUBLE. Diesel Nu Music award winners DARREN JAY and MC RIDDLA are set to tear up the dance-floor with a set packed with cuts of prime jump-up pressure. DJ ZINC adds his unique style to the arena with a relentless mix of ragga and hip-hop-styled hardstep alongside drum & bass heavy-weights LOGAN D & TWISTED INDIVIDUAL. Adding some fresh slamming style is the leader of Nu Skool DJ FRESH and STEPPA back to back with PROPHECY who complete what can only be described as pure mash up! MCs for the evening include SKIBADEE, ECKSMAN,  IC3, FEARLESS, SP, RAGE, BASSMAN, DARRISON, JUNIOR RED and TONN PIPER. 


THE DIRTY DISCO ARENA showcases an eclectic, minimalist, underground music policy, serving up dirty house, techno and electronica from the worlds best DJs and provocative artists.

Eclectic musical taste-maker MR SCRUFF headlines the arena with a marathon 6 hr set. His famous genre-mashing, widly diverse DJ sets, inventive animation and incredible production skills have made SCRUFF one of the most exciting and in-demand DJs in the world. A product of post-Acid-House Manchester, MR SCRUFF is a complete one-off; a cheeky innovator whose DJ sets have become legendary. An accomplished DJ since '94, his sets at the likes of Fabric, 333 Old Street, and his own night, Keep It Unreal, have established him as one of the world's finest freeform spinners.

Joining SCRUFF is one of the finest and most respected DJs in the world today, legendary musical craftsman TIMO MAAS. A super-talented remixer and incendiary club DJ, Timo has risen into the international DJ super-league through a mixture of hard work and no-nonsense crowd-pleasing. Self-styled purveyor of 'percussive wet funk', a producer and remixer of more than 85 productions , including classics like Orinoko's 'Mama Konda'. Throughout his career to date he’s DJ'd everywhere from Germany's 'Love Parade' to London's 'Turnmills' and Chicago's 'Karma'.  His sets turn energy into ecstasy, mixing the soundtrack to the perfect party and drawing on eclectic ingredients from Hip Hop to Alternative and R&B. With every set TIMO creates a new sound and clubbers know to expect the unexpected. 

Making a phenomenal festival debut is DIRTY DISCO resident, revolutionary new-breed and MIXMAG Future Heroes winner DJ MATT COOPER. MATT’s mix of tough beats, sublime melodies and throbbing bass all delivered in a tight mix are winning him acclaim throughout the UK. Man of the moment prolific DJ MARTIN BUTTRICH joins the DIRTY DISCO offering. Martin's production credits don't read like a who's who of a decade of dance they are a decade of dance. Aside from over 100 collaborations with Timo Maas, Martin has been involved with twice as many again from the Italo house of Sounds of Life to the sophisticated pop of the Sugarbabes. He was nominated for a Grammy on his work as a remixer on Tori Amos' "Don't make me come to Vegas" and still finds time to work with LocoDice.

Completing the line-up are DIRTY DISCO regulars DAVE SANDFORD, BOBBY O’DONNEL, DEATH ON THE BALCONY, ERROL BROWN and SKIN DEEP who promise to scratch, loop and cut into a whirl of deep bass, thrashing techno beats and a big slice of electronica.


Super stylish house brand HED KANDI add some sun-drenched glitz and glamour to the event as only they know how! KANDI stage their own glittering arena, promising a party atmosphere second to none. As usual HED KANDI will be doing it in style and transforming the arena into a dazzling spectacle of fabulous house music. Expect sparkling Kandi house, exclusive, bespoke, stunning décor, beautiful entertainers, and the world’s best DJs. Headlined by a STEVE EDWARDS who will perform LIVE on Stage, Steve who is best known as the vocalist on BOB SINCLAIR’s summer stormer ‘WORLD HOLD ON’, will be serving up a trio of hed Kandi dancefloor favourites only this time it’ll be Live!  DJ main players JOHN JONES, ANDY NORMAN, CHARLIE EDWARDS, PAUL HILL, CHRIS BAILEY and COREY are all heading to Leeds for a scorching SUMMER SOUND SYSTEM with live percussion from the fabulous IAN C.   

THE SUMMER SOUND SYSTEM 2007 will be broadcast live on Radio 1 during Dave Pearce’s Dance Anthems between 7 and 9pm and live on digital urban station BBC 1 Xtra broadcasting Bailey’s show between midnight and 2am.
