Hed Kandi unveils a brand new title in its catalogue entitled NU DISCO. A contemporary take on a much-loved genre, this new series will present 21st century disco in all its technologically enhanced glory.
Hed Kandi’s disco fascination is long-established and now explores a new era with neon lippy and synthesised disco beats firmly in place.
Advocates of this sound, and artists featured on the album, include Crazy P, Phonat, Aeroplane, Sidechains, Fred Falke and Tom Middleton. Crazy P give us two disco gems in the form of ‘Disc Odyssey’ and ‘Love on the Line’, both indicative of a ‘70s influence with a deep, sultry vocal on top of a syncopated bassline. Sidechains’ contributions to this title bring in a modern interpretation of disco belter Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk’s ‘Love Can’t Turn Around’ as well as ‘Dr Funk’, a faultless representation of this future sound. Aeroplane take off with Kathy Diamond on board who seduces us with a vocal resembling disco goddess Donna Summer on ‘Whispers’. They also fly us to ‘Paris’ with a remix of the Friendly Fires track replacing Ed McFarlane with the obligatory female disco vocal. Tom Middleton presents a flawless disco instrumental, ‘Remember the Love’ depicting an upbeat and energised version of this genre; whilst disco devotee, Fred Falke, messes with Mini Vival’s heart on his remix of ‘Left my Heart in Tokyo’.
NU DISCO is a seamless selection of ultra modern music, inspired by one of the most influential music movements of our time. This is disco evolution at its very best.
