Madagascar’s new president Andry Rajoelina appeared on the cover of the Daily newspaper in Kenya wearing headphones this week, just weeks after taking power of the African island state.
The 34 year old president became the first DJ to rule a country two weeks ago, 14 years after he started his music career spinning around the underground bar shacks of Antananarivo.
He would play wherever he could," close associate Liana Herisoa, chief editor of Rajoelina's privately owned television station told the Guardian, "For friends, in clubs, all over Antananarivo." His newfound status, however, failed to impress Kenya’s Daily, whose picture caption "President of Madagascar [ex-DJ, Editor’s note] will DJ at a party on the beach in Malindi. A seaside resort in Kenya.”
turned out to be an April 1 hoax.
In more early April news, scientist/ nerd portal InventorSpot.com published a story headlined ‘Staring At Boobs Prolongs A Man’s Life’
this Wednesday courtesy a spurious, though surprisingly plausible survey of 500 German men.
“Sexual excitement gets the heart pumping and improves blood circulation. There is no question that gazing at breasts makes men healthier,” Karen Weatherby, lead author of the study, told the portal.
“Our study indicates that engaging in this activity a few minutes daily cuts the risk of a stroke and heart attack in half. We believe that by doing so consistently, the average man can extend his life 4 to 5 years,” she added.
