Gemini is a 21 year old musician from Leicester, Britain aka Thomas Slinger. Slinger is an incredibly talented artist who has found his niche in his respective genre by releasing a slew of consistently impressive releases with a desire to continually change up his style and always create something new.
From July 6th to July 8th Gemini will be hitting the stage at Nass to showcase his energetic show. We caught up with him to see what he's been up to during the build up to Nass Festival.
Where are you right now and what have you been up to?
I recently got back from a US Tour with Koan Sound, which was off the hook! Since then I have started work on an album and been preparing myself for a big festival season.
Is there anything you know now that you wished you’d known at the start of your music career?
Now that would take the fun out of it.
What’s your top tip for aspiring DJ/producers, maybe there’s something you were told and benefited form?
Don’t try and define yourself within a genre, let the sounds you use and the music you make define you. It’s important to try and incorporate multiple sounds into your music I think, whether its Hip Hop, Drum & Bass, House, Dubstep or whatever music inspires you to sit down and produce. Just don’t be scared to go for something a little different.
Who’s hot in your headphones at the moment, anyone we should be listening out for?
Most of the stuff I like I try to sign to my label ‘Inspected Records’, so stuff I’m listening to at the moment includes, Asa & Stumbleine, Jayglo and Culprate.
Have you ever been to Nass before? What are you looking forward to?
Never been to Nass before, but heard brilliant things about it from friends. Apparently the atmosphere there is phenomenal and the line-up this year is really sick. Also really looking forward to checking out what’s going down in the half-pipes.
Nass festival also includes extreme sports, what’s the most extreme thing that you have ever done?
I gave up all my education to pursue my one love – music.
What can we expect from you in 2012?
I will be dropping another EP and a few singles later on in 2012, in build up for an album release in 2013. I’m going to be experimenting with lots of new ideas and mixing it up a fair bit, but I think it’s all going to be wicked so I’m very excited.
A big thanks to Thomas, you can catch him at Nass Festival between the 6th - 8th of July at Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet.
