EDM-pop trio Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso announced this week that they’re putting Swedish House Mafia on indefinite hiatus, via a cryptic message posted on their website.
“Today we want to share with you that the tour we are about to go on will be our last,” they announced “We want to thanks every single one of you that came with us on this journey, We came, we raved, we loved.”
The announcement was welcomed by their arch nemesis DJ Sneak, who writing on Twitter was ever so slightly triumphant.
“Their ignorance & egos did most of it. I just exposed it. Not sorry!” he replied to one follower who praised him for ‘dismembering’ them and another who Tweeted ‘Round 1 to @DJ_Sneak. Who says one person can't make a difference Good riddance commercial Swedish garbage’.
Retweeting messages mocking Avicii, Sneak indicated he’s unlikely to stop challenging EDM ‘superstar’ DJs any time soon, a point he also emphasized at length in an interview with Meoko.net in which he singled out ‘so called DJ producers’ like Tiesto, Avicci, David Guetta and Afrojack for ‘bastardising’ house music to create their ‘kiddie pop genre’ (aka EDM).
“I’m so sick of the egos and fakeness that is going on in this scene. No one asked me to do it, but I feel the need to be that one DJ that will stand up to the fabricated BRANDS to show them wrong, to expose their fake behavior,” Sneak vowed.
“They sold their soul for the fame,” he added, “They can never go back to the one thing that may have influenced them to try to be respectable producers and DJs.” (Meoko.net: http://bit.ly/MGQaIT )
