Exclusive Interview: John Digweed

Reported by Nick Trackitdown on August 31, 2017

John Digweed takes 5 from his busy schedule for a quick few words with us ahead of his highly-anticipated appearance with Sasha at The Social Festival!

Hi John, where are you in the world right now and what’s been happening?

Hi, I am currently sitting on a plane (for a change) and about to answer these questions below.

As a frequent flyer, who serves the best Bloody Mary?

Definitely Soho House in NYC.

What's the secret to your chemistry with Sasha - and how does it feel to rekindle it in The World’s biggest club?

Its about bringing what we do together and creating that extra magic that only happens when we play together.

Resistance Ibiza has some super strong line-up's this summer - who are you looking forward to seeing at Privilege this summer?

The line up is pretty incredible in both rooms all summer so it’s hard to pick any stands-outs, as everyone has been playing so well this summer, Stephan Bodzin’s live show has got a fantastic reaction.

Bedrock has to be one of the most consistent dance labels of all time. Why do you think this is?

Because we are consistent and try to keep the quality of the release high all the time. The last Frequencies compilation album had many new and exciting artists who really delivered amazing forward thinking tracks, and that’s what I love about the label! People will trust our judgement and give new artists a listen at the same time.

Describe your latest album 'Bedrock Frequencies' in one sentence.

Over 3 CD’s we take you through all the musical frequencies from low to medium to high and back again.

What's currently in the pipeline for Bedrock the label?

We have new releases and remixes from Guy J, Martin Eyerer, Lee Van Dowski & Bastion Bux , Gregor Tresher, Alan Fitzpatrick, Emmanuel Top, Eagles and Butterflies, Hosh to name just a few.

Is it true your brother is a World Champion clay pigeon shot?

Yes that's correct, 23 times to be exact.

You must be inundated with festival requests, what made you decide to appear at the Social again?

Nic and his team produce an amazing festival with the cream of underground DJs playing at it. The South East has always had a strong club scene so it's great it now has a proper underground festival that is up there with the very best in Europe now.

What's currently on Diggers ipod?

Loads of new promos and tracks that I have been sent, I go through loads of new tracks on the road in the car and also on the plane, it’s a great way to really get to know all the new music I have.
