Tom Real Breaks News ::

Reported by Trackitdown TID on July 2, 2004

Having just returned from Glastonbury festival where breaks day in the Glade Arena kicked 'ass and also yours truly had the pleasure of playing to around 500 nutters on a Thursday afternoon, The whole TID massive are well and truly looking forward to the Glade festival in a few weeks time. With a breaks line up to make even the hardest breaks-head run for cover.. Three days of beats n bass lines in a field in middle England look set to rule this summer.. Word is tickets have sold out.. But if you still haven't got one.. Track it down!!!

Other Glasto news, I had the pleasure of catching Atomic Hooligan Dex n EFX set in the Dance Tent (Why weren't they in the Glade area hhmm ???!) and it's safe to say this act is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with and AH's new single 'Just One More' is just plain mental... Keep 'em peeled for this one.

On the labels tip, Functional breaks seems to be uping the pressure this summer, not only are they one of the driving forces behind the Glade/Breaksday, but they've also got some killer material coming out too. Check Ben N Lex's F.L.E.D that's in the store right now.. It's top tuneage from this up n coming duo. Coming up soon is also my second release on the label with my production partner The Rogue Element titled 'High Noon On My Sundial' Breakbeat meets trance/techno ...coming soon. Watch out for the next instalment of Functional's mix album series, following the highly successful album from Will White,  Beatz & Bobz Vol.3 will have Mob head honcho and current TID featured artist Tayo on the mix. Beatz & Bobz is the UK's longest running monthly breaks party based in Exeter (South West England) and is one of the most 'avin it parties in the UK... More news on this to follow.

One of the hottest tear out labels Mechanoise drop the huge 'Fatal' by Phrenetic which is in the shops now watch out for new material from Distortionz & the unbeatable Breakfastaz on the remix which hits the streets in 3 weeks (promos out now). The mecha boys are also putting on a festival in Spain this summer and to mark it, watch out for 'Malaga Airport' by Mutiny & Yoof from the Sonz of Mecha. This will be on promo over the summer + a video will be shot for it in Spain at the Breaksfm festival on the 17th July.! More info on

Mob Records look forward to the launch of the fourth single from Italian breaks pioneer Santos, with the electro-stepper 'Try To Burn' on July 19th. The original is super cool 4-step breaks, whilst  current hotty JDS is on the remix, currently getting props from Rennie P, Plumps, Meat Katie, Hyper, Atomic Hooligan + more. Also, watch out for Evil 9's incredible debut album 'You Can Be Special Too' coming out through Marine Parade very soon. Following the anthemic 'Restless' this album is super special for ya ears!

Finally, those lovely people at TCR are not only rolling out some of the phattest tunes around but on Sat July 10th are back with not one, but two rockin' parties! First up following their 10th Anniversary birthday party last year, the whole crew return to the Lockside Lounge in Camden from 1pm - 10pm for an all day BBQ & dex session (if it's anything like last year..
It's going to be a great big piss up more like!) and to follow the legendary HUM returns to norf London's Canvas in the evening... And it's all free!!! for more info check
