Suede Star Gets Into Bed With Bangkok’s Futon ::

Reported by Trackitdown TID on March 18, 2005

Simon Gilbert, the former drummer with British indie pop stars Suede, has joined Bangkok based electro-disco- rock band Futon.

The polysexual, multi-national electro-disco rockers recruited Simon after making friends with him in Bangkok last year though according to Bee (Skrufff’s man-in-Bangkok) have no plans to transform themselves into indie rock gods.

“With Simon in the band we can now play totally live without any backing tapes and it also means the sound is more powerful,” Bee told Skrufff. “We’re gonna’ be indie rock devils.”

Futon’s best-known track remains Gay Boy (in which ultra-raunchy front girl Momoko fantasies about emulating the sex life of her gay pals) though they’re also currently finishing off their new album Love Bites, featuring Simon on drums.

“We support Avril Lavigne this month in Thailand then next month we’re playing in Tokyo and Shanghai,” said Bee. “The album is out in April in Asia, then in June we’ll be flying over to Europe again to play in London, Ibiza and Prague and Germany in September,” he revealed.
