Deep / Tech House

Cured in the fires of family Lower East, our next EP comes from our close friend, Dexter Kane. Having been part of the label roster from the very start, Dexter is on cue with the creative ethos that lines the walls here at Lower East HQ. His latest offering, the 'Future Retro' EP is the spawn of that creativity, displaying his own inimitable take on a crossbreed between the future sounds and past attitude of house and techno. Lead track 'Speak and Spell' is driven by an old school energy courtesy of a dirty bassline and tight 303s. Vintage piano chords give it that classic feel, which interplays nicely with the distinctly modern vocal cut that washes in over the top. Pure dancefloor fodder here from Mr Kane. Climbers take things deeper on their remix of the track, exploring lush atmospheres whilst adding a Parisian-styled electro chic. Next up Dexter unleashes the intoxicating groove of 'Happy Shopper.' Using a simple bassline as the foundation, the track flows with a natural ease whilst keeping its focus on the dancefloor. 'Three And In' is more of a laidback house strut. Coming with tonnes of melody, warm synths and a refined vocal workout, this highlights Dexter's deft ability at settling into some delectable grooves. From the retro but heading for the future, Dexter Kane has got it all when it comes to working in the studio.
