Death Proof Recordings
February 26, 2018
First of the year and a welcome return from our Mexican cohort Jnks. It's been over 2 years since his magnificent 'Hold On A Second' dropped on Death Proof Recordings, but he's busied himself in that time with starting his own collective imprint 'Iteration Methods' and a number of other high class releases. 'Replica' starts this EP perfectly, a gutsy and punchy arrangement that moves and twists through melodic anti-climatic drops and breaks. And then comes 'Sheol', which takes the other end of the techno spectrum, a warehouse-ready number, with a throbbing yet disjointed drumline, that allows sparse pads and atmospherics to pierce through, before a rasping bass line takes over to complete this really gritty number. The remixes see 2 new names, but not exactly strangers to the label. Once named the monumental Diction, Rodrick and Rodes are now making their singular, personal stamp on techno. And safe to say they've hit the ground running, with 2 outstanding interpretations of the two originals from this stellar pack.
