Lee Van Dowski
April 29, 2013
For Intactos sixteenth digital only release we proudly present LEE VAN DOWSKI. Lee Van Dowski: The very name exudes style and intriguea country lord, perhaps, who at night throws open the manor gates to host all-night bacchanals legendary for their wine and song. And though the French-born, Geneva-based artist may not have a manor to his name, the rest isn't far off the mark. Born Renaud Lewandowski, Lee has earned a reputation as a kind of dark prince of uplifting electronic musica trickster who spreads his mischief via long, undulating DJ sets and bewilderingly funky releases. And he's done this in a remarkably short span of time, with his first release in 2004. The pieces first fell together in 1993, when a friend invited Lee to attend a rave in southern France, near where he lived. "That was the shock of my life," says Lee, echoing a sentiment that will be familiar to many. "That was what I was looking for, without really knowing itthousands of people dancing and sweating in the open air. An amazing soundsystem. And this never-ending kick that drives you to madness Since that day, I've devoted my life entirely to being a part of this." So Lee has been playing the decks of the biggest dance clubs all over the world and worked with the greatest on many labels. Lee's tracks immediately stand out for their fine sense of detail, an almost intangible shimmer. With this Exodus EP, Count Lee has returned to his Swiss manor, the gates are wide open, and the beat is beckoning. THE EXODUS: Leave behind your everyday life with this deep beat and fast flowing synth shimmers. Exodus is a hunt for the extraordinary, and exodus of the mundane. This track is epic. IN BLOOM: Count Lee has geared up the drum machine, achieving a metallic feel that is layered with some darker samples to create mindblowing funkiness. Lasting over ten minutes, this tune will stay in bloom for a while. IN BLOOM [DUB VERSION]: A stripped down version of the previous track, retaining its funky, deep deliciousness but adding a curiously darkish vibe that transforms In Bloom into something completely new. Noir: Excellent release, big L.O.V.E. Joris Voorn: Great stabby techno!! Gregor Tresher: Big fan of Mr. Van Dowskis music, strong release!! Riva Starr: wicked tunes here Anja Schneider: support !!!
