The Byzantine Empire and its history is what inspires the music of Swedish-born, Berlin-resident, Svart Sol in its debut on Lost Crate. Hard but pleasant at the same time, the title track 'Byzantine Purple' is a big-sounding, slow techno grower that alternates a menacing bassline with sharp stabs and dubby atmospheres. On track number two, Lost Crate head Ornery adds his own touch to 'Byzantine Purple', giving it a more melodic and dancefloor-friendly format but keeping the main elements intact. The B-side of the EP treats us with two more darker, intense and experimental cuts from Svart Sol: 'Byzantine Trebizond' and 'Byzantine Plaza'; ideal for early mornings or after-after-hours.
